Mount Cashel survivors want to tell their stories

A survivor of Canada's worst child abuse scandal is calling for a public inquiry into the horrors faced by him and other residents of the Mount Cashel orphanage in Newfoundland and all other Christian Brothers organizations. The St. Johns man wants a truth commission similar to the one that Natives received for there schooling problems. He wants it so that him and other survivors can tell their stories of terror. He believes that we should follow the lead of Ireland who also spoke out against the Christian Brothers association.

Christian Brothers are one of the worst run schools I have ever heard of. These schools and anyone involved should have to give reparations to the people who had to suffer through these terrible events. I just hope they are given their truth commission.

Police Rescue 15 year old prostitute

Police rescued a 15 year old girl who was forced into prostitution in Toronto. She was working while her alleged pimp was in trouble with the law. Police arrested a Richmondhill resident who was apparently helping with the prostitution ring. The victim was working from this address. This lead led police to search two more condos and evidence was found that the girl had been working out of these condos. They found adds online and in the newspaper that was trying to bring girls into prostitution. Renan Gazzali Esahak, 40, is being charged with many offenses including running a bawdy house. This is the second 15 year old girl rescued from the prostitution ring in the past week.

This is ridiculous. Prostitution is illegal and to force a 15 year old girl to work as a prostitute is terrible. The man who is being charged will hopefully get a long jail sentence. I also hope that police get rid of this terrible ring.

Search for Tori resumes

The search for Tori Stafford continued even though she was presumed dead. Two suspects have already been charged with abducting and killing the 8 year old girl. Police believed she was moved 90 kilometers from where she was originally abducted by the two suspects. Even though two suspects have been arrested the story still strikes fear into people. Residents have been talking and discussing the topic a lot. Mothers of young girls are very scared because they know this could have been them.

This is one of the most terrible stories I have ever read. Why would someone want to do something like this what is going through there heads. These suspects need to be put away for a long time and I hope they get what they deserve in jail.

Women Smokers At Greater Risk

According to recent studies women have more chance of contracting a lung disease then men. A study focusing on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) a Harvard Study topic showed that women experience a lower function of the lung when they are exposed to a small amount of smoke compared to males. There's an important public health message here," says senior author Dr. Dawn DeMeo, assistant professor of medicine at Harvard. He went on to say that women believe a few cigarettes per day has no affect on them. The test was taken on women who had COPD and it showed that they were frequently affected by smoking. At a rate that was much higher than male smokers.

I think this study should open many women's eyes. This shows them that not only is smoking bad for you but also they have a higher chance of death then their male counterparts. This study was not required because people should no the risk of smoking from the start.

Man discovered 18 years later

Wanted
Horace Tazman HEADLEY
22/M
A First Degree Murder Warrant hs been issued for the arrest of Mr. Headley.

Occurrence #59219/91

Mr. Headley was married and unemployed at the time of incident. He was originally from Jamaica but in Canada as a Landed Immigrant

A man wanted for a 1991 murder of a Scarbrough man was arrested in Jamica and returned to Toronto to be tried. Horace Tazman Headley, 40, is being charged of first degree murder of Stanley Shearer. Shearer was shot and killed 18 years ago outside of his music studio. Two men involved in the murder were previously caught and charged with similar crimes. Headley was arrested by the Jamaican police and held for the Canadian police. Around 6 pm in 1991 three man showed up at DJ Stanley Shearer studio. Shearer was taken out back and was killed by Headley while his two colleagues kept watch outside.

I am glad that the police stuck with this case and eventually found this man who clearly deserved what he got. Headely thought he could escape but you can't get away with stuff like that. This case shows that you can never run away from your problems especially if your problem lands you in jail

Convicted USA spy released

An Iranian-American was released today after being sentenced to 8 years for spying in Iran for Washington. She was released after an appeal reduced the sentence. Saleh Nikbakht one of the lawyers who defended Roxana Saberi released a statement explaining how Saberi, who has been held in an Iranian prison since January was released after not even serving one eight of her sentence. Saberi had lived in Iran since 2003, she worked as a journalist for the BBC. She was initially caught for purchasing a bottle of wine (illegal in Iran). They revoked her press card and then she was sent to prison for spying for Washington.

This is interesting because I would think the USA would have spies but i do not think they would be caught that often. Saberi was foolish to do something illegal to draw attention to herself. The USA should think before they hire spies.

Liberal MP in Nanny trouble

Ascending Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla was caught is caught in a nanny trap. Two nannies who were hired by her to care for her mother say that they were illegally employed and miss treated by Dhalla. The nannies also said how Dhalla illegally seized their passports and other belongings and that they had to do many non nanny jobs such as washing cars. Magdalene Gordo, 31, and Richelyn Tongson, 37, say that they were hired to work for Dhalla and then paid 250 a week while working 12-16 hour days. Dhalla responded by saying that she was "shocked" by any talk of mistreating nannies."Anyone who has ever worked in our home has been treated with a lot of love, with a lot of care and compassion and money has never, ever been withheld from anyone," Dhalla told the Star in an interview.

I think this is just a case of nannies trying to steal away someone's money just because she is a government official. This case is a big phony and should be exploited in court
